JET PUMPS

This pump system is generally used in shallow well and cistern applications. It is a cost effective method of pumping water but it also has characteristics that can be interpreted as drawbacks:

Can only pump from a depth of 35 to 45 feet.

When the pump loses prime, it can consume numerous hours in labour attempting to restore the prime.

Usually works best in low pressure settings of 30 to 50 psi.

Regular city water pressure is around 60 psi.

The pump is indoors, usually in the basement of a home and therefore, when the pump is running, there is a noise factor that can be intrusive.

VARIABLE SPEED SUBMERSABLE PUMPS

VARIABLE SPEED SUBMERSIBLE PUMP

submersable-pumpSimilar to the conventional submersible pump. The greatest difference is that the variable speed pump eliminates pressure fluctuations. You dictate the water pressure that you would like in your household.

The computer system of the variable speed pump is calibrated to provide the desired pressure.

The computer recognizes a pressure drop in your water line as soon as a tap is opened. The pump begins to work to maintain a constant pressure.

If a second or third tap is opened in the household, the variable speed pump will increase rpm’s to ensure that all open faucets experience the same water pressure.

PUMP INSTALLATION MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS

There are numerous water well and cistern pumps available on the market today. Our company has well technicians, licenced by the Ministry of Environment, to ensure that you receive top-notch, up to date, professional advice as to which water pump is appropriate for your water needs.

If your present water delivery system does not meet to your satisfaction, give us a call. We will go over your present system, inspecting the pump, water lines, pressure system and filter unit in order to give recommendation as to how we can improve your system to meet the water demands of your busy life.

CONVENTIONAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMP

A conventional submersible pumps can provide a wide range of water volume delivery. The size of your submersible pump will be dictated by the volume of water that your water well is able to produce without stressing the well.

The volume of water is determined through a pump test that is performed after the drilling of the well is completed.

Conventional submersible pumps are able to deliver close to city pressure with a 20 psi variation. Submersible pumps are lowered into the well by our licensed pump technicians. This means that the pump system is completely silent. The household will never hear a pump running.

There is no priming involved with submersible pumps.

CISTERN INSTALLATION

In some areas of the Niagara Region, it is advantageous to install a water cistern rather than to have a water well drilled. A water cistern is a concrete tank that is buried on your property.

The size of the tank can vary according to your water needs. Commercial water delivery services are available that deliver potable water using a large tanker truck. The water is delivered to and deposited in the concrete cistern. Your pay for the quantity of potable water delivered.

Prices may vary between water delivery companies.

CISTERN CLEANING – BACTERIAL REMOVAL VIA DISINFECTION OR STERILIZATION

After a period of time, it is good practice to have your cistern cleaned and disinfected. This habit will ensure that your family’s health is not compromised due to a possible bacteria introduced into your cistern.

This is especially true if you collect rain water from your home’s roof.

This also leads to a build of a particulate debris over time, which is another reason to do period cistern cleanings.

Call Ted van der Zalm & Family for a free estimate to clean and disinfect your cistern.
